our Community 

Commonground is a community of people who share a dedication to the mission: a just, nonviolent and sustainable world. We pursue this mission through social justice for the disadvantaged, collaboration, feminism, anarchism, non-violence and environmental sustainability.

Our community is made up of people who live on site at the Commonground property and people who live offsite around Australia. Amid our busy lives and many responsibilities outside Commonground, we take every opportunity to gather as friends, family and comrades in action. We gather for rituals at Easter and the solstice of winter and summer, when we celebrate with meals, music and games. 

Our community spans three generations. The collection of skills, aptitudes and wisdom among us is dazzling and together we are strong! The land we care for teems with healthy life and its capacity to nurture us and its other creatures grows year by year.

We keep the business and venue going with working group meetings and working bees. We hold one another close in times of hardship and joy, and bear witness to one another’s journey.  We host hundreds of people every year at our venue. While we all contribute to the social change movement in various ways through our lives beyond Commonground, this is our primary contribution as a group. 

With this duty of care comes the privilege of our ongoing relationship to the land and to each other. We welcome other change makers to join us in community. We need their wisdom, work, and friendship to keep this show on the road.
